Our Academy is Home to the Champaign Urbana Ballet

Champaign Urbana Ballet offers an opportunity for the dancer who wishes to experience ballet beyond the classroom, and is a vital step for the dancer looking towards a professional career.

Champaign Ballet Academy is home to the CU Ballet and our students regularly audition for roles in The Nutcracker at Krannert Center and spring performances like Swan Lake and Peter and the Wolf.

Academy students are frequently accepted on scholarship to dance at the School of American Ballet, Boston Ballet, Ballet Chicago, and other prestigious programs. The professional quality of ballet training at CBA serves as an important foundation for the serious ballerina and male ballet dancer. For the amateur, CBA offers an experience that develops the dancer to her/his fullest potential and provides performance opportunities in local productions.

Deanna Doty, director at CBA, is also the founder and artistic director for CU Ballet . She enjoys having the company rehearsals in her studio to provide younger dancers the opportunity to see firsthand the fun of performance training.

Pictured here are CBA's Dasha Kouzminova dancing the lead role of Clara in The Nutcracker with Ice Fairies Erin Mangian, Emily Buss, Kerstin Stayton and Emily Withenbury surrounding her - all students at CBA.
